ashtanga yoga teacher training india

From down-facing dog jump or step through to Dandasana.
This series of movements is performed after almost every posture of the Primary Series (the few exceptions are noted beside the relevant poses). They help to realign your spine, release any tension from the preceding posture and eliminate any potential negative effects — like a kind of slate-cleaning exercise. They also keep your whole body warm and active.
The true “full” vinyasa of Astanga Vinyasa yoga consists of a complete sun salutation but this is extremely demanding and few practitioners do it on a regular basis. What is known as a Half Vinyasa is shown on the opposite page. The movements should be repeated between each posture and on each side of an asymmetrical posture. They allow you to get to and from the basic seated position smoothly. The vinyasa are postures that you are already familiar with from the sun salutations (see pages 46—53) with the addition of a “jump back” and a “jump through” to sitting. The key to these jumps is the use of mula and uddiyan bandhas  — without them you will notice that you can hardy lift yourself from the floor
